7 Keto Staple Must Haves

When I first started doing the Keto diet I had no idea where to start. I kept wondering which foods to get and what to get rid of. Having been doing this for almost four months now I thought it was a good idea to share with you all my top Keto foods must haves for anyone who is wanting to start doing a low carb high fat diet such as Keto.

Watch the video on this HERE.

These are my 7 Keto Staples:

Olive oil

Olive oil is a healthy fat and it’s great to sauté your meat and veggies with. When cooking with olive oil your food gets a wonderful flavor and you will feel full for longer periods of time. The best thing about olive oil is that it contains large amounts of antioxidants which means it helps fight disease!

Coconut oil

Coconut oil is another great way to get healthy fat into your food. You can use it to cook with and for those awesome bulletproof coffees. Another reason why coconut oil is a Keto staple is because it is processed by the liver which means it converts into energy right away instead of being stored as fat.coconut oil

Butter

I love butter! Butter makes food taste delicious and it gives you the fat you need to get into ketosis. Personally, I love cooking my eggs with butter and of course it’s another staple for the bulletproof coffee. Butter contains healthy saturated fats which is what we want to consume to use for energy. I can’t say this enough but make sure you use REAL butter, preferably grass fed, and not margarine.

Bacon

Bacon is one of those wonder foods that will give you the fat you need and has practically zero carbs. Eat bacon every day and you can’t go wrong with it. It contains omega-3 fatty acids which is the type of fat also found in fish and very healthy for us. Plus Bacon is the Word!

Avocado

This is a great source of healthy fats and vitamins that our bodies need. It contains Vitamin K, C, B5, B6, E, Folate and Potassium. It’s a wonderful alternative for unhealthy carbs; in other words, eat an avocado i
nstead of flour or sugar products. I eat half an avocado in the morning and the other half for dinner.

Spinach (leafy greens)

Spinach is a wonderful source of Vitamin K, A, B2, B6, E and C, magnesium, folate, iron, copper, calcium, and potassium but my favorite is that it’s a good source of dietary fiber. In Keto the object is to get your carbs from veggies such as Spinach.

Heavy Whipping Cream (HWC)

I put HWC on this list because I enjoy it in my coffee. It’s a good alternative for regular coffee creamer and it adds fat which is something you want when doing low carb high fat diets. A word of caution, try not to go overboard with the HWC because the calories can easily add up.

Honorable Mention:

water

Water – Drink lots and lots of water! This is something that I have found it is universal in all diets and with Keto it’s no different. Water is good for you, it helps flush out the fat!

So, there you have it folks, my top 7 Keto Staples everyone should have when going on this new way of eating adventure. I try to never run out of these foods since I use each of them every day in my meals.
